.456 the creativity project :: home ::

home is where the heart is...

and mine has come back (for two weeks) on military leave from dubai.

twinkin. sibling. same b-day. three years younger is here and making my heart beats steady.

(bahrain money)

(pure frankincense)

"staycation"

he and toots have been "besties" since he's gotten here.
her, following, foot to heel, every where that he goes.
"uncle albie, do you want to color with me? uncle al, uncle al, uncle al..."
a million requests at a time and he appeases, practically, every single one.

(she will be rotten by the time he leaves)

economically, the military has been good to him.
but physically, it has been torturous.

the eczema, on his hands especially, are taking a vicious turn in the climates and conditions they've forced him in.
military doctors are a joke and what it has done to his spirit is no laughing matter...

but home is also where the healing is.

and we still have just a few more days of healing to do...

saying goodbye :(

now that you've reached the end,
please follow along in visiting the next photographer in our circle, my friend
becky, over at lifewithkaishon.com and view her take on this month's theme.

i have followed the journey of their family's patriarch for some time, and this month she showcased his journey, beautifully.

.455 the creativity project :: behind or under glass

our dining room is full of glass.

tables...mirrors...display cases and shelving units holding even more pieces of glass:

wine glasses, fruit bowls, glass trinkets shaped like flowers, a wall made of glass, even the dining room table is rod iron, and you guessed it...glass.

but

since all of it needed to be dusted (only realized when i peered through my lens)...i quickly cleaned the easiest pieces to clean, and shot those instead.
(i have a three year old. cleaning is my full-time job. no thank you to over-time)

also:

i have no idea if it's the literary part of me that takes each theme so...literal, but as i was combing through images, instead of going with the theme as it was written...i was pulled to focus more on the subject matter as i never really shoot - glass. because of this month's challenge theme, i think i want to explore this arena a little more because it's just so darn pretty.

i bet with the right lighting and different color glass...

(((beams)))

*my mind is twirling with possibility*

the next photographer in our circle is one of my personal favs and personal friends, as well.

also, her post is almost the exact the post i was going to do (from behind my car window) so i was extremely excited when i saw it. it's the perfect blend of street photography and candid portraits, both of which she excels at. she is extremely gifted at capturing the human spirit (little people especially) and this post is just another example of why.

please visit the effervescent becky adams at lifewithkaishon.com and welcome her into your he(art)s like i have done mines :)

.454 the creativity project :: storytelling

i grew up in a household where words were worth more than gold (both parents were writers), thus reading became everyone's favorite past time by default. thus, for this month's theme, i chose to dig through my figurative photo crates and pull out pictures of everything surrounding my favorite art form (surprise: not photography) and search for all things book related...

i do the same thing (and told him so)...when something is so greatly written, i have to write it down.
it will either serve as inspiration...or a really great quote.
